About Us

The founders of Edesis Gourmet Dr. Momoko Uno is a doctor of integrative medicine. Marilu Perez is a private chef. We combined our knowledge and experience to create Edesia Gourmet.

We want to share our love of food that is delicious and nutritious. Just because you may suffer from swallowing challenges, it doesn’t mean you need to compromise your quality of food. Food brings joy in people’s lives. For people who suffer from dysphagia, it’s often challenging to find food that tastes good, and doesn’t look like baby food or brown mush.

Here is our solution for you. A delivery service of gourmet pureed foods that tantalizes the taste buds, and is also beautifully presented. We have a rotating menu of lunches and dinners for four weeks, delivered conveniently to your doorstep. We constantly update our menu depending on our feedback from our valuable customerDr. s.

About The Owner

Dr. Momoko Uno is a Doctor of Integrative Medicine, Certified Functional Medicine Practitioner, Acupuncturist, and Board-Certified Chinese Herbalist. She earned her medical degree from Shanghai University of Chinese Medicine, where she integrated pharmaceuticals and botanicals in internal medicine. Additionally, she holds a Master’s in Acupuncture from Samra University and a master’s in psychology with a focus on consciousness, health, and healing from the University of Santa Monica. Her Doctorate in Integrative Medicine emphasizes nutrition therapy and holistic approaches.

With over 25 years of clinical experience in holistic and alternative medicine, Dr. Uno has served as the department chair of clinical studies at Pacific College and has taught and supervised at various institutions.

She is also the co-founder and co-owner of Omni Wellness, a multidisciplinary wellness center located in New York City.

Chef Marilu Perez

Chef Marilu Perez has many warm memories of cooking with her mother and sister when she was a child, preparing food for their many parties. Food played a very important role in her family, always bringing them together. Marilu grew up exposed to two different cuisines — Puerto Rican and Mexican. The influence of these cuisines is prominent in her use of ingredients, seasonings and flavors. Despite her love of food, she pursued a career in the fashion industry working for Tommy Hilfiger, Liz Claiborne and Oshkosh B’gosh brands but always continued to integrate cooking into her daily lifestyle. 

In 2009, Marilu finally decided to follow her passion and enrolled in the Institute of Culinary Education, where she received a Diploma in the Culinary Arts. Marilu then apprenticed at SD26, where she assisted the chefs for dinner service but mainly focused on their nightly catering events. As fitness has always been another primary focus in her life, Marilu was further inspired to create Lula NYC, professional catering services in NYC, as a way to integrate the nutritional aspects of overall health through utilizing seasonal, organic and local foods of the highest quality. You can truly taste the attention and care that is put into her cooking!

Our Mission

Edesia Gourmet is for people with swallowing challenges, who wish they had a wider range of tasty meals they can savor.

It is a line of freshly-made gourmet purees and foods in small pieces that gives you the taste you remember and love in easy-to-swallow forms.

Because Edesia was developed by a personal chef, freshly prepared meals, rich in flavor and high in nutrition, you can rediscover the joy of eating.
